Co-Op for PWRÂs J-2X Program
Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne (PWR) is please to offer exclusive opportunities to CSU LA Engineering Students to support PWRÂs J-2X Rocket Engine program. The J-2X Rocket Engine Program is a development program to upgrade an Apollo era engine for the next generation of NASA vehicles. PWR will sponsor several CSU LA students in Co-Op positions supporting the program on PWRÂs campus in Canoga Park, CA. These positions are part time, designed to compliment a full time studentÂs class room learning. The Co-Ops are expected to work between 15-25 hours per week at PWR and will be both paid a competitive wage and receive credit hours toward their engineering degrees. PWR is interested in engineering students with Junior or better standing (grad students welcome too) at CSU LA, and a GP of 3.0 or better. All Applicants must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Green Card Holder

Focus Area Title: Manufacturing Engineer

2 positions available *Join PWR as a Manufacturing Engineer at our Canoga Park campus in California. This position will be responsible for monitoring the fabrication and assembly of hardware both in at PWR and at local suppliers for J-2X rocket engine.
Task Description:
The manufacturing engineers activities will include planning the sequence of operations and specification procedures for the fabrication of tools and specific components. The individual will often act as a liaison between the product team and the factory, tracking the progress of a part through the shop, resolving non-conformance issues, or assisting the factory interpret drawing requirements. The candidate may also have the opportunity to visit work in process hardware at suppliers in the greater Los Angeles area. The individual will have the opportunity to learn lean manufacturing processes from mentors with vast manufacturing experience. The experience will prove beneficial to those interested in a career in manufacturing, development or design.

Co-Op for PWRÂs J-2X Program
Focus Area Title: Quality Engineering
Join PWR as a Quality Engineer (QE) Co-Op at our Canoga Park campus in California.
This position will help develop and flow down product requirements for components of
the J-2X Rocket Engine.
Focus Area Description:
This Quality Engineering position ensures proper flowdown and clarity of product
requirements to ensure the quality and conformance of procured products and services.
Quality Engineers provide quality system design and analysis review to validate the
integrity of quality decisions that affect products and services. QEs also participate in
design and product reviews to ensure that producibility, inspectability, safety, Quality
System integrity, and business process management objectives are met.

Neil BussiereTask Description:
The project will be to provide Quality Engineering support to Integrated Product Teams
(IPTs) consistent with the Focus Area description provided above, primarily through the
determination and identification of requirements critical to component function and
fabrication.

Co-Op for PWRÂs J-2X Program
Focus Area Title: DELMIA Analyst
Join PWR as a DELMIA Analyst Co-Op at our Canoga Park campus in California. This
position will help develop DELMIA simulations for the J-2X Rocket Engine.
Focus Area Description:
DELMIA is a powerful 3D graphics tool which is used on the J-2X program to simulate
maintenance and operational tasks. This DELMIA Analyst position will use this tool to
simulate Organizational level maintenance tasks (i.e., remove & replace) of J-2X Line
Replaceable Units (LRUs) to ensure that adequate access and Support Equipment (SE)
are identified to complete each task.
Process Manager/Owner:
Corey CoulterTask Description:
DELMIA Analyst will develop 3D graphic simulations using the latest J-2X Engine
model in Pro-E and Upper Stage and First Stage models provided by the customer. Skill
level within DELMIA must include the use of manikins for determining optimal human
factor interface, ability to create movies, and familiarity with CATIA for importing files.
Upon completion of each simulation, a report needs to be written which includes snap
shots (i.e., cgm, jpeg pictures) to better describe the results.
Eligibility:
All applicants should be students of Cal State LA College of Engineering, Computer
Science & Technology. Engineering Discipline preferred.
Students should be of at least sophomore standing with the College. Graduate Students
are also eligible.
Minimum GPA: 3.0
Student Commitment
Co-Op participants will be expected to work

participants will become employees of the Cal State LA Auxiliary Services Department,
and will be paid an hourly wage from the university.
The term of the Co-Op will be from

based on PWR staffing needs and Co-Ops performance.

Co-Op for PWRÂs J-2X Program
Focus Area Title: Engine Systems Test Engineer
Join PWR as an Engine Systems Test Engineer at our Canoga Park campus in California.
This position will be responsible for programming test data scripts for engine
performance evaluation.
Task Description:
Using Visual Basic in Excel and scripting in Winplot, program an automated data
extraction and performance evaluator of a rocket engine, after tests. Winplot scripting
will extract the pertinent data sets for each component which will upload to Excel to
performance quick look analysis. The performance equations and logic will be obtained
from component engineers. The components are turbopumps, combustion devices and
valves.
