Annual Pan-African Studies Forum

Each May the Department of Pan African Studies hosts a Forum. The PAS Forum features guest lectures by world-renowned Black intellectuals, artists, and cultural workers who share their wisdom and life's work with members of the Cal State Los Angeles community. Past guests have included Dr. Melina Abdullah (2019), Yusef Salaam (2018), Nikki Giovanni (2017), Angela Davis (2016), Ava Duvernay (2015), Cornel West (2014), Amiri Baraka (2013), Kathleen Cleaver (2012), Bob Moses (2011), and Isaiah Washington (2010). 2013 African Hip Hop Film Series

The Pan African Studies department, along with the Cross Cultural Centers, hosted an African hip hop films series in 2013 that highlighted hip hop scenes from all over Africa, including Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, Uganda, and South Africa. Below are links to videos from the film series.
