Name: Sesley Lewis
Department: Dean of Students Office
My name is Sesley Lewis and I am a product of the leadership pipeline that Cal State LA has created. When President Covino talks about upward mobility, I know he is talking about students and alumni just like me. I was a transfer student, now a proud alumni (’17), and I currently serve as a staff member in the Dean of Students office.
I have the amazing privilege of putting the skills I learned at this university to good use by paying it forward. As a student I served as one of the key leaders for the implementation of the Cal State LA Food Pantry, and the groundbreaking of the CalFresh Outreach center, and continue to serve in this capacity as a staff member. During my time as an undergraduate student, I developed as a leader throughout campus serving in many capacities including President of the Black Student Union. Membership Chair for the National Society of Black Engineers, member of the Student Dietetics Association, and I served on several committees. I want to serve on the Academic Senate so that I can contribute my experience and skills to the overall well-being of this university and to continue the leadership pipeline. Thank you for your consideration.
