"Using next-gen sequencing – a genome-wide approach - to analyze transcription factor binding and gene expression during muscle development "
Massively parallel “next-gen” DNA sequencing has made it possible to determine where a transcription factor is bound throughout the entire mouse genome in a single experiment. Likewise, next-gen sequencing has made it possible to determine all of the RNAs being expressed in a single experiment. Analysis of where MyoD, a muscle-specific transcription factor, is bound throughout the genome in C2C12 pre-muscle cells, and correlation with gene expression has led to unexpected findings that challenge the scientific community to expand its current models for how MyoD works.
