Eleanor "Ellie" Chairez

As an American Pasqua Yoqui/Masquelero of the Apache Nation, Eleanor was born in East Los Angeles during the WW II. Her experiences with race, culture, human rights and physical disabilities have helped to shape her adult life. In 1963, Eleanor began working as a civil servant employed by the State of California Employment Development Department. Her five children are grown, and without the patient assistance of her husband, Vidal, she could not be so active in the community. Through her Coro training, Eleanor hopes to be a more positive role-model in her community, to become an even stronger person than she already is, and to be capable of implementing any programs that are granted to her community.
