Firepolish fire-cut tubing immediately. Having introduced strain to the glass to cause it to break, fire-cutting is likely to result in some remaining (thermal) strain in the glass. There is less of a chance for cracks in the tube to occur if firepolishing is done immediately after fire-cracking than if done after the piece cools. |
