Dr. Denise Herz’s primary area of research is in juvenile justice, with a particular emphasis on integrating systems to improve outcomes for youths at-risk for delinquency and for youths who have entered multiple systems. To this end, she currently works closely with the Los Angeles County Probation Department, the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services, and the Los Angeles County Juvenile Court. Since 2011, Dr. Herz has also directed research and evaluation activities for the City of Los Angeles Gang Reduction and Youth Development Office. Additionally, she is a consultant with the Center for Juvenile Justice Reform at Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy and works closely with CJJR staff to develop research and programs directed at improving outcomes for system-involved youth and families.
