ILLiad Interlibrary Loan System

ILLiad Interlibrary Loan System Comes to Cal State L.A.

The Library is pleased to announce a new service called ILLiad for our InterLibrary Loan (ILL) users. ILLiad stands for Inter Library Loan internet accessible database.

What does it mean for YOU?

ILLiad automates routine ILL functions by handling borrowing, lending and document delivery through a single website. This greatly speeds up the time needed to process your requests.

OK, but how does that help me, besides being faster and more efficient? Glad you asked!

This easy-to-use Web-based tool allows you to access your ILLiad account from wherever you have access to the Internet and a Web browser. After completing an initial profile ("registration"), you need only to key in your NIS username and a password that you have chosen for yourself. Your profile information - e.g., name, mailing address, email address, phone, etc. - will be automatically inserted into your ILL requests. And you can easily check up on your ILLiad requests and get very detailed information about their progress through the ILL system at almost every point in the process.

The ILLiad system will replace our existing, outmoded and overloaded ILL tracking system, which will eventually be taken offline. However, please note that ALL active requests now being processed in our current ILL system will continue to be fulfilled until each is completed as we transition fully over to the new ILLiad system.

The new system will be operational starting 15 November 2004. If you have any questions, please email the Library ILL Service <illoan@calstatela.edu> or call 323-343-4983.
