OK . . . now you know some of the tricks for using a database more effectively . . . lets talk about the two main types of databases you will
use for your research . . .

 

  • Article Databases  ~ are used to find articles in periodicals that relate to your topic.  They are also called indexes (when they are in print form.)
     
  • Library Catalogs ~ are used to find books and all other items that are in a particular library.  In addition to searching for books, you can also find out what periodicals, government documents, videos, music, and other materials are owned by that library.
