Article Databases ~ How do they work?
  • •When you use an article database, it quickly scans thousands of
    issues of many different periodicals to find a match for your search terms.                 [image]
  • •If you didn't use an article database (or a printed index) you would have to
    look through every issue of every periodical to find articles on your topic!
     
  • An article database will give you a list of the articles that match your search terms. 
    Depending upon which database you are using, it will provide you with one or more
    of the following:

A Citation   (the basic information you need to find that article)

An Abstract  (a brief summary of what the article is about)

The Full Text  (the entire text of that article)
