The UCLA Center for the Study of Women is sponsoring, along with the UCLA Sociology Department a lecture series entitled Â“Sociology of Gender.Â”
Friday, February 1st - Robert Connell will give a lecture on Â“Men and Masculinities in Global Arenas.Â” Connell is the author of The Men and the Boys, Masculinities and Gender and Power. The lecture starts at 4 pm, in Kinsey Hall, Room 355. Free and Open to the Public. Carpooling recommended; it costs $6 to park and it is frequently difficult to find parking.
Tuesday, February 19, also at 4 pm - Dorothy Sue Cobbell will give a lecture entitled Â“Lost Visions of Equality: The Labor Origins of the Next WomenÂ’s Movement.Â” Cobbell is a Professor of Labor and Employment Relations, History and WomenÂ’s Studies at Rutgers University. She is the author of the forthcoming book Dishing It Out.
