Q: Why is there a CSU fee increase?
A: Faced with the state's mid-year budget cuts, the California State
University System Board of Trustees voted December 16, 2002 to increase the fees
for undergraduate students by 10 percent, and for graduate students by 15
percent at all 23 CSU campuses. For more details,
go to: http://www.calstate.edu/PA/news/BOTfees2.shtml
Q: Where do I pay?
A: Pay at the Cashier's window by check or cash, or mail to the
Cashier's Office. If you choose to use Smartpay credit card payments through
GET, please be aware that a credit card processing fee will also apply. To check
the status of your account, visit http://get.calstatela.edu
and click on “Eagle I-View Sign-In” to find out how to access your personal
information.
Q: What is the deadline for paying the fee?
A: The deadline for the fee payment is January 17, 2003. Please
remember that the fee is mandated by the CSU, and therefore a hold will be
placed on your records if the fee is not paid by that date. This means you will
not be able to register for the Spring 2003 quarter or obtain transcripts until
your account is cleared. Please also be aware that late fee policies remain the
same.
Q:
What if I receive financial aid? Will this increase be covered?
A:
If you are a financial aid recipient of a State University Grant (SUG),
Cal Grant A or Cal Grant B (fee portion), the full amount of the increase will
be covered. All other students will receive a statement for the balance due.
Q:
Can I pay the difference for this fee increase with my Spring Quarter
registration?
A: No. Please be aware that if your payment is not received by
January 17, 2003, a hold will be placed on your account.
Q:
What if I have already paid for the Winter 2003 quarter?
A:
If you have paid the previous fee total, you can still register for classes. You
will soon receive a billing statement showing the small difference you still
owe. Please make sure you pay any additional fees by January 17, 2003.
Q: What if someone else is paying my fee?
A:
It is your responsibility to notify this party of the increase.
Q: Who can help me with other questions?
A: Call the Cashier's Office
at (323) 343-3630. If you have Financial Aid questions, call the Center for
Student Financial Aid at (323) 343-1784.
