Los Angeles, CA -- November 19, 1996 -- Dance Kaleidoscope, Los Angeles' premier dance showcase, is now accepting applications for its 1997 festival, which will take place on successive weekends in July. Application forms may be obtained from the Dance Kaleidoscope office at California State University, Los Angeles and written applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, January 10, 1997.
Dance Kaleidoscope seeks Southern California-based individual
artists and companies from across the dance spectrum:
* Contemporary Dance, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Performance Art
* Popular/Media and Musical Theatre Dance
* International Dance, Culturally Specific Dance
* Programming to appeal to family/youth audience
Applicants must demonstrate a minimum of two years of professional experience. Persons under 18 years of age are only eligible for the family show. All applicants are required to audition in person or by video in addition to submitting the written forms. Live auditions will be held on the campus of Cal State L.A. on February 1, 2, 8 and 9. In-person auditions are strongly encouraged. Permission to audition by video must be secured from the Dance Kaleidoscope office before the January 10 deadline.
Dance Kaleidoscope performances are tentatively scheduled at the Luckman Theatre on the Cal State L.A. campus, Loyola Marymount University in Westchester and the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood. Additional venues are under consideration as well. Complete details of Dance Kaleidoscope 1997 will be available after Saturday, March 1, 1997.
