DANCE KALEIDOSCOPE 2000 FEATURES
LOS ANGELES, May 30, 2000 - Fourteen works will be premiered during Dance Kaleidoscope in July 2000. The festival, Southern California's leading dance showcase, features a total of 28 artists/companies in five performances at four locations. Evening performances take place at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex on the campus of Cal State L.A. on July 14 & 15, the Japan America Theatre in Little Tokyo on July 22, and the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood on July 23. A noontime "Kaleidoscope Teaser" program is scheduled at California Plaza's Marina Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles on July 5.
Except for the California Plaza performance, which is free, tickets for all evening shows are priced at $18 for the general public and $12 for Dance Resource Center members, students with ID and senior citizens. A 'K48-Pass,' priced at $48, provides admission to the four, paid-admission evening shows at a discount of $6.00 per ticket. For Kaleidoscope tickets and information, call 323 343-MOVE (6683).

The July 14 opening evening program at the Luckman is entitled "Angels Flight." The seven works featured relate to that theme, which takes its name from the historic funicular railway that is a landmark of downtown Los Angeles.
The festival has traditionally embraced both veteran and emerging choreographers. In 2000, ten choreographers are having their work shown at Kaleidoscope for the first time this year. These include * Rebecca Bryant & Nehara Kalev - Bryant has worked with David Rousseve and Victoria Marks. Kalev, an Oberlin grad, has pursued her dance interests to Brazil, Indonesia, Ghana and Benin. (July 5, California Plaza)
