Los Angeles, CA -- April 22, 1996 -- On Monday, May 13, Cal State L.A. Division of Intercollegiate Athletics will host the 17th annual Michelob/Pepsi Golden Eagle Golf Tournament at the Via Verde Country Club in San Dimas. The tournament, which is expected to sell out at 160 golfers again this year, has become one of the most popular events on the CSLA Golden Eagle Athletics calendar.
Participants will have the chance to win many big name prizes, including a 1996 Buick to any golfer who can make a hole-in-one on the challenging 166-yard third hole. Awards will be given to the winning and runner-up foursomes in both mens and mixed divisions as well as to golfers in longest drive and closest-to-the-pin competitions.
Following the tournament will be the awards dinner and a silent auction. Auction items will include vacations (including a trip to Hawaii), golf clubs and sports memorabilia, featuring a basketball autographed by Earvin Magic Johnson. The evening will conclude with the selection of the grand prize winner in the Acapulco Vacation drawing.
Applications to play in this years tournament are still being accepted. Cost to play is $100 per person or $400 per foursome if paid before Wednesday, May 1. The price will be $125 and $500 if paid after May. Tickets are available for the dinner, auction and Acapulco drawing for $35 per person.
