Cal State L.A. Offers Free Introductory Workshop on
Mediation and Conflict Resolution

Los Angeles, CA -- August 22, 1996 -- On Tuesday, October 1, 1996, from 6-8 p.m., the Office of Continuing Education at California State University, Los Angeles is offering a free workshop for professional development, titled "Introduction to Mediation & Conflict Resolution Skills Training Tools, Techniques & Strategies."

The workshop will present effective, step-by-step mediation skills to assist in analyzing problems and creating positive solutions. These tools can be used in a variety of ways in an easy-going, accessible manner. You will improve your communication, listening, interpersonal and reasoning skills. Mediation is the way of the future, is cost effective and a more humane way of resolving a wide variety of issues.

The presenter, Kathleen A. Memel, M.F.C.C., has served as a family mediator at the Los Angeles Superior Conciliation Court and has more than 15 years of professional experience as a licensed marriage, family and child counselor. She is a member of the Academy of Family Mediators, a board member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, Los Angeles Chapter, and a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. She is a frequent lecturer, writer and trainer in mediation skills and psychology, and is the founder of the Divorce and Child Custody Mediation Center, located in Beverly Hills where she maintains a private practice.
