Becomes College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology
Los Angeles, CA -- California State University, Los Angeles President James M. Rosser recently announced the creation of the Department of Computer Science and the renaming of the College of Engineering and Technology to the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology.
Computer Science has existed as a degree program in the College of Natural and Social Sciences within the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. "With the support of the faculty, the Academic Senate and the academic administrative leadership of California State University, Los Angeles view this collegial decision as one critical to our ability to position the University as a major participant in the creation of a more inclusive, competitive and mobile California economy," said President Rosser.
The newly configured College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology will be headed by Kuei-wu Tsai, former Associate Dean of Engineering for Undergraduate Studies and Professor of Civil Engineering at San Jose State. Dr. Tsai will join Cal State L.A. as dean on August 6, 2001.
