How do you an appointment?
The University Writing Center is for all CSLA students. You can come in with any type of writing assignment at any stage of the process. We can help you understand the assignment as well as plan, organize, and revise your paper. We can even help you learn to proofread for your most common mistakes.
To get one-on-one writing assistance, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Call (323) 343-5350 and make an appointment. Appointments last 30 minutes and you are allowed to make three per week. If you come in without an appointment we may be able to serve you, but we can't guarantee that a tutor will be available. Please come on time. If you are more than five minutes late your appointment may be given to a walk-in.
Step 2: When you arrive for your appointment, check in at the front desk with your I.D. The first time you come in, you will be asked to fill out an information form. This information is used for statistical purposes only. You will also be given a tutor evaluation form.
It is important to check in at the desk because if you don't, neither the writing center nor your tutor will get credit for helping you.
Step 3: When you meet your tutor, bring the assignment and all related materials. Tell the tutor exactly what you want to work on during the session. You and the tutor will work together on the problems. Do not expect to read a book or work on something else while the tutor corrects your work.
Step 4: After the session, fill out the tutor evaluation form and turn it in at the front desk. Your honest evaluation helps us make the service as helpful as possible.
Step 5: You may want to stop at the desk and make a follow up appointment. Also look at the list of writing workshops being offered to see if any would be useful to you.
