VIDEOS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 6PM FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2022
The American Communities Program at Cal State LA has launched a contest open to current Cal State LA students to encourage people to vote in the November 2022 election. The videos can be submitted by an individual student or as part of a group. Please use the guidelines below to come up with a concept and then write and record a 30-second to 2-minute video.
Create and submit a video that in some way expresses the importance of voting in November. Explain why voting matters in a short (30 seconds to 2 minutes) video, designed for a platform such as YouTube, that uses entertainment, emotion, creativity, and/or humor. Videos that endorse a specific political party or candidate will not be accepted. However, videos may address specific issues relevant to you and our campus community. Videos that target groups that historically vote in lower numbers are especially encouraged. (On groups with lower voting rates, see these resources: link and link). Videos that explain California’s new system of same-day voter registration are also welcome (link here).
Entries will be judged based on creativity, quality, originality, responsiveness to the task, and overall impact.
· Be 30 seconds to 2 minutes in length;
· Be in a compatible YouTube format with the proper codecs: WebM files, MPEG4, 3GPP, MOV, AVI, MPEGPS, WMV, FLV with suggested aspect of 16:9;
· Contain no misleading or false information.
To be eligible, entrants certify that they are the sole creators and copyright owners of the submitted video or have obtained all copyrights to the video. All entrants must be current Cal State LA students.
For all videos created, please only use licensed or license-free media (images, video and audio) and record people who have agreed to be filmed. You may not use any copyrighted images or music without a license, which includes images from Google Images.
