2018 Business Pitch - Join a Night of Success and Inspiration

Business Pitch Logo

Did you know teams from the last two Business Pitch events received company valuations of over $1 million after competing?  Festiie (2017) and Zoomies (2016) used the training and support they gained to attract additional start-up investment and mentoring.

The successes keep coming.  The College of Business and Economics’ Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation continues to educate, mentor, and promote Cal State LA student-created businesses.  Center director Barney Santos develops entrepreneurial skill-building programs like The Business Pitch and Launch Force; helps student teams succeed in entrepreneurship competitions including the L.A. Mayor’s Cup and BioHack; and engage with investors at events like the USC University Venture Summit.

2017 Business Pitch Finalists

Where are they now?  Check out recent successes of Business Pitch participants.

Cropsticks (2016) recently signed contracts to provide their sustainably grown chopsticks to the Disney Hawaii and Disneyland theme parks.

Drew’s List (2016) built a fully immersive VR program for music festivals. They are partnering with record labels and musicians.

Young Scent (2017) fruit vinegar beverages are now distributed through Whole Foods Markets.

The center’s student and recent alumni teams have appeared on Shark Tank, partnered with government agencies, and regularly complete National Science Foundation I-Corps programs. The center partners with groups across Cal State LA and in the community.  This year the Business Pitch will offer a Social Innovation prize sponsored by Department of Political Science professor Dr. Marla Parker to further inspire students to engage and support the local community and/or social issues faced by the city.
