Dr. Lopez is one of the research faculty advisors in Civic Engineering. Her research interest is in developing methods to ascertain the impacts climate variability has on long-term surface and subsurface water, water storage, ecosystems and water quality using novel modeling techniques and the integration of advanced observation data. Performing modeling studies with the inclusion of local sustainable technologies using both physically-based and conceptually-based hydrologic models. Dr. Nerenberg is one of the research advisors in Physics & Astronomy and Biological Sciences and one of the pre-trainee mentors. His research group uses molecular dynamics simulations to investigate questions related to the structure and thermodynamics of proteins, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules. Dr. Shen is one of the research faculty advisors in Mechanical Engineering. His research interests are in the areas of robotics and instrumentation, dynamics and control, modeling and simulation, as well as image processing and computer vision. The applications are in soaring flight control of small unmanned aircraft, perception-control-manipulation on various robotic platforms (humanoid, multi-legged robots, and submarine robot), and high-efficiency wind energy systems. Dr. Terebey is one of the research faculty advisors in Applied Astronomy. Her research is in both observation and theory of star and planet formation, protostellar disks and winds, the interstellar medium, and Galactic structure.
