Commencement

WELCOME TO COMMENCEMENT AT CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, LOS ANGELES

The faculty and staff of California State University, Los Angeles congratulates the Class of 2018. We hope you continue to stay connected and serve as ambassadors to the University by building upon our reputation for excellence. We hope you can join us in May as the University recognizes and honors your academic achievements.

Cal State LA is committed to providing a memorable Commencement experience for the Class of 2018. This year we will be staging 14 ceremonies in the University Gymnasium at the Billie Jean King Sports Complex from May 21 – 25, 2018. The venue will offer a more intimate experience for students and their families. The gymnasium is being upgraded with new seats, improved lighting and an enhanced sound system. Traditions such as marching across the stage, shaking the hand of President William A. Covino, live music, pomp and circumstance, the announcement of each graduate’s name, and the Jumbo Tron will continue. The area stretching from the Main Walkway to the gymnasium will be transformed into a festive Commencement Village featuring vendors, and special photo areas. The gymnasium will provide a safe and comfortable environment not subject to weather conditions.
