The Bachelor of Arts in Communication program, with an option in Organizational Communication, in Downtown Los Angeles is designed for individuals and working professionals with an interest in obtaining a degree in a broad, but growing field.
Students will be prepared for diverse careers in areas such as marketing, sales, consulting, public relations, business, management, human resources, public affairs, fundraising, development, and civil service, among others. The broad nature of the curriculum also makes it applicable to students seeking advancement in any career. In this hybrid program, classes will meet online and face-to-face on select Saturdays.

*Spring and fall semesters are separated into two 8-week sessions with students taking two courses per session. Summer Session consists of one 8-week session in which students will take two courses.
Note: Students interested in applying to the B.A. in Communication program at Cal State LA Downtown are strongly encouraged to complete COMM 1200-Argumentation or its equivalent at their local community college before starting the program. This course will NOT be offered at Cal State LA Downtown and must be taken at your local community college. In order to successfully complete the program, COMM 1200-Argumentation or its equivalent must be completed prior to the student finishing all of the B.A. in Communication coursework.

Note: Due to special requirements, College of Professional and Global Education, and Second Baccalaureate students, are not allowed to change their degree objective nor are they eligible to declare additional bachelor-level majors or minors.
