Capstone Senior Design

The ECST Capstone Program provides students with a project experience in which they apply their theoretical knowledge to an industry-defined problem, working with a real client to solve a real problem. The result may be a physical prototype, software package, technical design, or operational algorithm.

Acceleration Initiative

ECST is committed to accelerating the success of our students, through programs that build community, develop skills, and reinforce core STEM concepts, helping current and prospective Golden Eagles off to a strong start on their path toward a successful STEM career. Acceleration Initiative programs have been awarded funding by the National Science Foundation, the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the Weingart Foundation, the College Futures Foundation, the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation, Boeing Global Engagement, Aerojet/Rocketdyne, LADWP, and generous gifts from alumni and friends.

MESA

The MESA Schools Program provides educationally disadvantaged high school students with opportunities for university and career exploration in the STEM fields. Hands-on activities give students a chance to learn about higher education and careers, while also interacting with college students and professional mentors. Learn more about the MESA Schools Program at ECST.

LAunchPad

LAunchPad is a two-week summer program for high school rising juniors and seniors who are introduced to some of the exciting ways that engineers and computer scientists can make the world a better place. Learn more about LAunchPad.

STEP

The Summer Transition to ECST Program (STEP) is a program for all ECST incoming freshmen majoring in pre-engineering majors and pre-computer science. Learn more about STEP.

FYrE@ECST

ECST First-Year Experience (FYrE@ECST) is a first-year cohort program that provides students with skills and support for their ongoing success at ECST. Learn more about First-Year Experience.

STAR

The Successful Transfer and Retention (STAR) program at Cal State LA, supports the College Futures Foundation's work to ensure that more students who reflect California’s diversity will complete a bachelor’s degree. Through the STAR program, we are looking forward to establishing engineering and technology pathways with community colleges and developing a pre- and post-transfer peer mentoring program, thereby enhancing institutional capacity to support transfer student success in STEM fields.
