Dale M. Schoettler Scholarship for Visually Impaired Students 

Description

The Dale M. Schoettler Scholarship for Visually Impaired Students was established in 1991 by Mr. Schoettler, who was a successful businessman from Mountain View, California and blind the last eight years of his life.

Amount

Up to $10,000

Criteria

  • Minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA.
  • Student must be currently enrolled in Spring 2022 and remain enrolled in at least 6.1 units in the Fall 2022 semester and in at least 6.1 units in the Spring 2023 semester.
  • Provide verification of a visual disability from a medical health professional. The disability must be such that it impedes the educational process and necessitates accommodations, support services, or programs.
Application Process

To be considered for the Schoettler Scholarship, students must submit the following documents in one email to: finaid@calstatela.edu by 5pm on April 29, 2022. In the subject heading type: [Student Last Name, Student First Name] - Schoettler Award

  • Applicant Information Form
  • Personal statement (word document, 12-point font, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, there is no page limit). The heading should include the following: student’s name, CIN#, Schoettler Scholarship, Personal Statement. The personal statement should include the following information: Background, challenges encountered, personal achievements, educational pursuits, and goals and aspirations for the future.
