These are exciting times for students in health and human services fields that are thriving with new innovations, expanding resources and brighter future employment opportunities. In addition, our faculty are dedicated to preparing health and human service professionals for fulfilling careers that address societal needs.
I am delighted to be the associate dean of the RXCHHS where we take pride in our diverse student body and the faculty. Prior to becoming the Associate Dean of the College I served as the chair of the Health Care Administration Department at California State University Long Beach since 2003, and taught health care economics, health care finance, research methods, internship and the graduate capstone course, Project. I earned my PhD in economics with specializations in health care economics, public finance and industrial organization at Saint Louis University in 1994 and MS in finance from the same institution in 1989. Previously I obtained a BS and MS degrees in management engineering from Istanbul Technical University.
My research interests focused on hospital mergers and closures, economic efficiency of hospitals and rural health clinics, access to health care, and the survival and efficiency of osteopathic hospital and I published numerous articles in top-tier journals such as Eastern Economic Journal, Social Science & Medicine, Health Care Management Review, Journal of Rural Health, and Journal of Public Health and Health Management. More recent articles were appeared in Reports on Global Health Research, Journal of Health Care Finance, and Journal of Health and Human Services Administration.
