Academic Programs - ABSN ( Formerly Entry Level Masters)

Accelerated Bachelor's of Science in Nursing 

The ABSN program is a rigorous 15-month program that requires full-time status, and is for selected non-RN students who hold a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing. Successful completion of the program grants a BSN degree and enables the individual to sit for the California RN licensing exam (NCLEX-RN). This program also offers the individual the opportunity to be considered for direct entry into the Master of Science degree in Nursing program as long as the following conditions are met: (a) the student must complete the prescribed ABSN series of basic nursing courses with an overall GPA of 3.0 with no course grade lower than a "C" (b) a graduate student Cal State Apply application must be received during the university’s specified filing period (c) the student has participated in the MSN program interview process and (d) the student must have passed the NCLEX-RN Exam after completion of the ABSN program and before the end of the following semester. Final decisions for admittance into the graduate nursing program will be made by the MSN faculty option coordinators.
