The course will address global health, and specifically prevention through participation in a community based health and literacy camp in India that has been established by Arodhum, a non-profit organization. Arodhum focuses on development in often overlooked rural communities by identifying, nurturing, and developing the potential that exists in rural children. Arodhum has also developed wellness health camps which provide a systematic way to ensure preventative health care for rural children. The service learning component of the program will be conducted at two rural sites near Bangalore and will focus on the role of culture in individual development and behavior.
