GETmobile Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is GETmobile?
  • GETmobile is an application that gives students the opportunity to perform some GET system self-service functions from a mobile device or tablet, and gain access to important university information.
  1. What are the features that GETmobile currently offers?
  • GETmobile currently features My Courses, View Grades, Enrollment (e.g., search, enroll, add, and drop classes), Course Catalog, Exam Schedule, Student Course Evaluations, Financial Aid Information, Student Financials Account Summary, Holds/Notices, To Do tasks, access to Canvas, Schedule Planner and AskCalStateLA chatbot. Students can also provide Feedback and Report an Issue regarding the GETmobile app.
  1. What is the difference between GETmobile and the GET website (
  • Although many of the commonly used GET self-service and information webpages are available in GETmobile, it is not intended to substitute the GET website.  GETmobile does not provide access to some services and information, such as the individualized advisement plan, campus personal information updates, unofficial transcripts, and my academic requirements.
  1. Who can use GETmobile?
  • GETmobile is available to the public at no cost.  GETmobile functions that interact with the GET system are fully secure because your MyCalStateLA ID account is required for access.
  1. How can I download GETmobile?
  • Students can download the Cal State LA GETmobile app from the Apple Store (Apple iOS devices) or Google Play (Android devices). 
  1. Does GETmobile require a login?
  • To ensure data security, students must use their MyCalStateLA ID account to access GET-related functions, such as Enrollment, Student Account Summary, Financial Aid Information, To Do, Holds/Notices, My Courses, and Student Course Evaluations. 
  1. Which mobile phones are compatible with GETmobile?
  • GETmobile is compatible on smartphones with Apple iPhones running iOS 8.0 and greater, and Android-based phones running version 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) and greater.
  1. I forgot my GETmobile password. What should I do?
  • GETmobile uses your MyCalStateLA ID account username and password. If you forget your password, go to, type in your username and click the Forgot Password link for password reset steps.
  1. If I am having problems using GETmobile, who should I contact?
  • For any GETmobile questions or problems, contact the ITS Help Desk at 323-343-6170 for 24/7 phone assistance, or drop by in person during normal business hours at Library Palmer Wing Lobby.  The Annex Link Open Access Lab (ST E191) is also available for walk-in assistance after-hours and on weekends.
  1. I am having problems enrolling into a multi-component course with co-requisites?  What should I do?
  • While GETmobile does support enrollment into courses with one co-requisite (for example, a lecture and lab), it does not currently support enrollment into courses that have more than one co-requisite (e.g., a lecture, lab and an activity). In this case, you need to log into the GET system and use the Enrollment feature through Self-Service.
  1. How secure is my personal information when using GETmobile?
  • Your personal information is very secure.  First, all data transmissions between the GET system and GETmobile are encrypted.  Second, you must use your MyCalStateLA ID account to access your information in the GET system.
  1. Why are some of the GET information pages not displaying my information on GETmobile?
  • The GET system routinely undergoes system maintenance on Friday evenings from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.  During the maintenance period, the GETmobile features that communicate with the GET system will be unavailable.
  1. How can I provide feedback concerning the GETmobile app?
  • We want to hear your feedback!  Within the app is a Feedback option.  If you find a bug or have an idea for future development, please leave us your feedback and it will be reviewed by the GETmobile development team.
