Our Goal

California State University, Los Angeles students understand the importance of the development of green technology. Living in Los Angeles, California we have first hand experience with air pollutants and have decided that we would like to be a part of making California a “Green” state as well as the rest of the country. We are very grateful to have participated in the EcoCAR 2 competition where over 150 students were able to participate and gain valuable experience outside the classroom, while working on the 2013 Chevy Malibu to convert it to a plug-in hybrid vehicle.
We would like to thank General Motors, The Department of Energy and Argonne National Laboratory for granting us the opportunity to participate in EcoCAR 3. Cal State Los Angeles continues to be involved with the Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition (AVTC) series because it prepares students for a hands-on education in the automotive industry and exposes them to environmentally friendly alternatives as well as giving them the opportunity to meet the demands for tomorrow’s diverse and innovative world.

Our Plan

Our plan is to provide a hands on education on the automotive industry and the exploration of technology for tomorrow’s demanding world for our students participating in the competition. Through the involvement of the competition: students have the opportunity to craft a superior performance hybrid while educating the next generation of automotive engineers and industry leaders. Ours students as well as our faculty come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences which allows them to engage in creative and innovative ideas. Through the competition students employ the university’s rich history of craftsmanship and manufacturing prowess while collaborating with organizations all throughout Southern California. Our goal is to impact the surrounding communities, schools and law enforcement to spark an interest in environmentally friendly alternatives as well as an education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
