Terri Iler, Ed.D.
Student Success Strategist
Welcome to our team page – it’s great to meet you! My name is Terri, and I came to Cal State LA in December 2016 as your Student Success Strategist. While I am new to the University, I began my career working with college students nearly a decade ago, when I coordinated the Destination Graduation Project at CSU Long Beach. For the Project, we engaged in extensive student outreach and one-on-one advising to raise the six-year graduation rate among CSULB’s first-time freshmen.
At CSULB, I also served as Assistant Director of the University Honors Program, where I had the privilege of leading a community of 500 undergraduates. I also worked in the non-profit sector as the Regional Coordinator of the California College Guidance Initiative, where I supported K-12 districts and schools in meeting their college and career readiness priorities. Most recently, I served as the Program Coordinator of Student Activities in the School of Social Sciences at UC Irvine. In this role, I facilitated student leadership, engagement, and research activities for first-generation college students.
Like you, I am a CSU student! I received my Bachelor of Arts degrees in English Education and Italian Studies from CSULB. I also earned a Doctorate of Education through UC Los Angeles’ Educational Leadership Program. My research at UCLA centered on college readiness, as I investigated the predictors of students’ postsecondary success through a statistical method called structural equation modeling.
