How to Apply for On-Campus Positions

How to apply for Student Assistant/Federal Work-Study positions

1. Review Available Jobs - Job openings are listed online on Golden Eagle CareerLink, and also on bulletin boards in the Career Development Center.  Jobs on the bulletin boards are organized by category and color-coded as follows:

Blue:  Student Assistant positions
Green:  Federal Work-Study positions (Financial Aid Award Letter Required)
Salmon:  Off-Campus Federal Work-Study positions
White:  Internship positions

2. Apply - Apply to all jobs you are interested in by using the Student Employment Application.  For Federal Work-Study positions, you must attach a copy of your Financial Aid Award letter, which must be for the current school year. Turn in the apllication(s) to the Student Employment Office.

Upon receiving your application, we will screen your applications for completeness and then forward your application(s) to the hiring department(s) within 72 business hours.

3. Interview - After the department has received your application, it will take approximately two to three weeks for the hiring department to contact you if you are selected for an interview.

If you were not selected for an interview, the Student Employment Office will send you an email to inform you.

4. Selection - If you are offered a Student Assistant (non Work-Study) position, please schedule an appointment with the Student Employment Office by calling (323) 343-3293 to be processed.  Appointments are recommended and encouraged: walk-ins are welcome based on availability.  Please bring the following documents to the appoinment:

1. Employment Transaction Form
2. Social Security card
3. I-9 acceptable document
4. Current class schedule
5. Previous quarter's grades

If you are offered a Federal Work-Study position, please contact the Center for Student Financial Aid for processing.

If you do not hear from the department or receive an email from the Student Employment Office within two to three weeks of submitting your application, contact the department directly to check on the status.  Please remember to write down the job title and department name for the position(s) for which you applied to so that you can contact the employer directly.
