Second Annual Tiny "Zeus" Lister Celebrity Benefit
Basketball Game to be held March 23 at Cal State L.A.
among stars already scheduled to appear
Los Angeles, CA -- March 8, 1996 -- Film star, professional wrestler and former NCAA Track and Field Champion Tiny "Zeus" Lister will hold his second annual Celebrity Benefit Basketball Game on Saturday, March 23 at 6 p.m. in the Eagles' Nest Gymnasium on the campus of California State University, Los Angeles. All proceeds from the game go to benefit the Cal State L.A. athletics scholarship fund and the West Angeles Church of God in Christ community redevelopment project.
Many of the stars from last year's highly successful game will return along with new marquee names for this year's event. Earvin "Magic" Johnson, the leading scorer in last year's overtime thriller, returns for 1996, this time as a coach. Other major stars participating in the March 23 game include the superstar recording artists Boyz II Men, Brandy, Ice Cube and Tone Loc. Mayor Richard Riordan, actor/director Tommy Ford and NFL standouts Rod Martin, Willie Gault and Mike Davis are also scheduled to take the court. In addition to the game, festivities will include a chance for six lucky fans to win $10,000 in cash during a special halftime shootout contest.
Tickets are now available through Ticketmaster. Ticket prices are: VIP (includes reserved seating and postgame reception with the celebrities) $50, Courtside $15 and General Admission $10.
