1996 FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSIC
Featuring Chinary Ung*
Los Angeles, CA -- April 08, 1996 -- On Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4, 1996, the Pacific Contemporary Music Center will host its 1996 Festival of New Music in the Music Hall, on the campus of California State University, Los Angeles. The performance includes works of members from Australia, China, Korea and the United States. The work of guest composer Chinary Ung will also be featured. Each day a series of lectures and recitals will be held.

2 p.m. Panel Discussion: "The Composer in the Marketplace"
4 p.m. Orion Saxophone Quartet
8 p.m. Whole Bean Woodwind Quintet
Saturday, May 4
10 a.m. Student Composer Recital
2 p.m. Elgart-Yates Guitar Duo
4 p.m. Australian solo percussionist Vanessa Tomlinson
8 p.m. solo and chamber ensemble works
Before each evening recital on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., Chinary Ung will offer presentations about the works to be performed and his music in general. Individuals tickets are $10 general and $7.50 for students and seniors. Festival package tickets which include all six recitals and the panel discussion are available at $45 each.
The festival is sponsored by Cal State L.A. Music Department and School of Arts & Letters, and is made possible in part through a grant from the MEET THE COMPOSER/California, with support from the MEET THE COMPOSER, Inc., National Endowment for the Arts, Metropolitan Life Foundation, ASCAP, California Arts Council and the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department.
